sustainability
Surrounded by Punkaharju Nature Reserve, sustainability is at the heart of our operations. At Kruunupuisto, responsibility is reflected in practical activities such as reducing water and electricity consumption, serving local and seasonal ingredients at our restaurants, supporting local business and locality, providing accessible services and equal encountering of our customers, as well as maintaining historical valuable buildings. Domestic foundation ownership creates the basis for our socially responsible business.
Kruunupuisto supports the principles of sustainable travel and encourages our staff and customers to do the same. We are committed to the Sustainable Travel Finland responsibility program, the purpose of which is to promote sustainable practices in Finnish tourism. We have been awarded the Sustainable Travel Finlan label by Visit Finland on June 2021. Sustainable development and practices have been consistently mapped, created and developed. These aspects will also be taken into account when planning future investments.
Kruunupuisto has a strong foothold in Punkaharju’s culture and history. Being a part of the local community, we work and cooperate closely with local partners. Kruunupuisto’s services are also designed to serve local residents. Locality is also reflected in the hotel’s material choices, some of which are local produce. Our hotel rooms are located in beautiful early 20th-century Art Noveau buildings, renovated respecting both the original and accessibility. By maintaining and renovating the old historical buildings we support the preservation of local culture. It is also highlighted in our hotel rooms and public areas using e.g. old photographs of local life.
Kruunupuisto Restaurant serves food from buffet breakfast to á la carte dinners, based on local produce and seasonal ingredients. Unique ridge and lake environment provides excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation and our guided outdoor activities with our equipment rental are available all year around. We welcome all visitors, including those who need help in their daily activities.
